Employment Status Part Time Employment Type Leave Replacement Job Summary Specific Duties

  • Checking library materials in/out.
  • Shelving library materials, shelf reading, shifting, inventory and general maintenance of collections, including tidying, dusting, cleaning if needed.
  • Registration of borrowers – issuing cards, maintaining and updating borrower records.
  • Receiving payment (cash, debit, credit card, cheque) for lost or damaged books, book sales, computer time, overdue fines, printing and FAX
  • Circulation Desk answering directional and basic reference questions and helping students, employees and community users find materials using the catalogue and other sources.
  • Computer labs and public stations – replacing toner/paper, helping users with basic questions as time allows
  • Handling Room booking requests
  • Opens and closes Learning Commons if sole person on duty. Includes setting alarm/disarming, admitting patrons, turning on all systems, copiers, equipment, computers, library system, display case lights on/off, opening computer labs, media services lab, and study rooms, and clearing patrons from the facility at closing time
  • Must be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.
  • Must promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
  • Other special projects, as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • One or more years of relevant library/office/customer service experience. Previous library experience is preferred
  • Keyboarding (minimum 40 wpm, 90% accuracy preferred), filing, general office skills with some practical experience.
  • Ability to deal well with public and fellow employees.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Computer experience.
