Education:

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
  • Current basic cardiac life support certification

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager or Resident Care Manager and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering nursing care in accordance with Providence Health Care’s (PHC) mission, vision, and values. LPNs function independently while recognizing when patient acuity or circumstances require collaboration with RNs or RPNs for clinical intervention.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
  • Implement established care protocols and standards of practice for LPNs in British Columbia.
  • Actively participate in care planning, assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
  • Document care activities and advocate for patients/residents’ needs.
  • Attend care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Support the orientation and training of new staff and students.
  • Respond to and report incidents per established procedures.
  • Perform clerical duties as required.
