How you make a difference:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Under the supervision of the RN(s), directs and guides patient teaching and activities that commensurate with his/her education and demonstrated competencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in the assessment, planning, and implementation of individualized treatment programs for patients under the supervision of an RN.
- Implements clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols, while ensuring patient safety.
- Administers medications and obtains diagnostic tests in accordance with Health Care Practitioner’s orders and protocols, using proper techniques and procedures.
- Assists Health Care Practitioner in medical or minor surgical procedures and implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans as ordered.
- Documents nursing encounters using the SOAP form of charting and communicates information to nursing staff and other relevant personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
- 1-2 years of acute medical experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
