POSITION SUMMARY, REPORTING AND SALARY

The LO works as part of an integrated team to analyze and process licence applications and renewals; assisting with registering stakeholders online; answering questions; and providing assistance. The LO primarily interacts with licence holders with some interaction with the general public.
Reporting: Direct Report of the Director, Licensing
Salary range: $43,900.00 - $59,400.00
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm (1 hour lunch)
Location: 466 – 167 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0T6

PROCESS LICENCE APPLICATIONS ADHERING TO COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ownership of Licensing Applications: Review and process licensing applications for all insurance classes using documented licensing procedures; Ensure the applicant is registered in the portal, and update content based on their application input.
  • Support the Licensee: Monitor individual applications and/or files to ensure appropriate support is available to the licensee and/or applicant.
  • Additional Occupations: Analyze the licensing file when an additional occupation is brought forward determining if review by Council is required and a condition imposed on the licence.
  • Provide Recommendations: Make recommendations for effective and efficient handling of applications to the Department Manager/Director.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidential client files according to Insurance Council of Manitoba policies.
  • Act as Liaison: Liaison with other jurisdictions to determine suitability on licensing applications.

LICENCE HOLDER REQUIREMENTS

  • E&O Terminations: Review disqualified E&O files and assist with sending out formal disqualified letters.
  • Continuing Education: At the direction of the Senior Licensing Officer, send approval letter/email and maintain all CE requests for individual approval and for ACP. Handle inquiries concerning CE matters from ACP’s (Accredited course providers) and licensees. Manage and maintain current ACP contacts in ICM’s databases.

EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma and post-secondary education in Business Administration
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a professional office environment
  • Preferred: One years’ experience in a related field
  • Proficient with a PC Computer system
  • Proficient in MS Office; Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of proprietary office systems
  • Working knowledge of common use office equipment
  • A basic working knowledge of the Insurance Act and regulations is considered an asset
  • Preference to persons who have worked in a regulatory environment involving consumer protection

  • Must pass a criminal record check and be legally entitled to work in Canada
