QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Lifesaving Society Learn to Swim and Lifesaving Instructors
  • National Lifeguard Certification
  • Standard First Aid + CPR C
  • Advanced Provincial Trainer Status in First Aid, Lifeguard Training or Instructor Training an asset.
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
  • Hard working, motivated and reliable - with the ability to attend work regularly and punctually.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and accept and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to deal with the public courteously and effectively.
  • Ability to attend all orientation and training sessions.
  • Availability to work evenings and on weekends.

Responsibilities:

LIFEGUARD & SWIMMING INSTRUCTORTOWN OF TILLSONBURG IS LOOKING FOR AN OUTGOING INSTRUCTOR/LIFEGUARD THAT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY AND SUPERVISION OF PATRONS USING TOWN POOLS AND THE PLANNING AND INSTRUCTION OF SWIMMING LESSONS.

THIS IS A SEASONAL STUDENT POSITION WITH AN OPTION TO ENROLL IN OMERS DEFINED PENSION PLAN.Start date: upon completion of construction
End date: September 3, 2025
Hourly rate: $18.55 - $19.29/hour
Weekly hours: up to 20

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As set down by the “Health Protection and Promotion Act - R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 565. The standards in these regulations must be adhered to or exceeded As set down by the Technical Standard and Safety Authority the Amusement Device Act must be adhered to or exceeded.
  • Provide Instruction and Lifeguard supervision for all Aquatic Programs.
  • Develop lesson plans and administer required evaluations
  • Maintains daily records for classes (attendance, swim class progress, test sheets and report/progress cards).
  • Maintain pool area and recreation facilities in a clean, sanitary condition.
  • Report all accidents/incidents, problems or concerns to the Program Coordinator.
  • Attend all staff training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled by supervisors.
  • Wear the staff uniform consisting of lifeguard shirt, suit, and whistle, at all times while on duty.
  • Follow all Town policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
