Description:
Shift Hours
- Morning Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Late Shift: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Primary Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and approved menus
- Ensure all meals meet community standards for quality and presentation
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef on food and dining programs
- Participate in pre-meal stand up meetings in the kitchen prior to service
- Document food temperatures before service
- Kitchen Management
- Maintain kitchen, food storage, and preparation areas in clean, safe condition
- Handle opening and/or closing duties for the kitchen
- Follow assigned cleaning schedules
- Maintain clean kitchen floors and regular trash disposal
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
- Inventory & Storage
- Receive, store, and prepare food according to company standards
- Estimate daily/weekly food and supply needs
- Communicate inventory requirements to Executive Chef/Sous Chef
- Assist with transportation and storage of food and supplies
- Monitor and document refrigeration/freezer temperatures
- Resident Service
- Ensure snacks and beverages are available to residents 24/7
- Assist with special events, banquets, and theme meals
- Support overall resident satisfaction with food service
- Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to standard food safety practices
- Maintain clean and sanitary work environment
- Follow all company protocols and procedures
- Document all required temperatures and safety checks
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years cooking experience in hospitality or healthcare environment
- Current Food Handler’s Permit (as required by provincial law)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
- Capable of reading and following:
- Recipes
- Production guides
- Cleaning schedules
- Documentation logs
- Strong knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking, and service
- Physical ability to perform essential job functions
