Description:

As a Line Cook, you’ll:

  • Be the hands and heart behind delivering on our mission of delivering irresistible food to guests to The Grand Hotel Nanaimo
  • Create flow on the line by ensuring up to date knowledge of inventory levels and a timely delivery of orders
  • Develop an environment of connected, committed teamwork through communication, the willingness to help others win and your great attitude, drive and commitment
  • Be a business owner every shift you work, taking responsibility and accountability for the safety and cleanliness of your kitchen, and quality of product you present.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Nanaimo, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
