Description:

The Enterprise Technology team at Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a Linux Endpoint Engineer to solve HRT-specific, Linux-related productivity issues in our complex and highly technical environment. In this role, you will be a subject-matter expert for a team of technicians supporting Linux and VDI users across the firm. We’ll rely on you to keep the day-to-day running smoothly with great Linux endpoint management skills and design solutions. You will have the opportunity to deliver highly visible and impactful solutions, and assist in improving HRT’s Linux endpoint uptime and productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep knowledge and experience with Debian and Ubuntu on enterprise-grade laptop and desktop hardware
  • Experience provisioning, deploying, and maintaining Debian endpoints using Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) (e.g., WorkspaceOne, MobileIron, Google MDM)
  • Experience in one or more languages (e.g., Bash, Zsh, Python, etc.)
  • Experience working with and deploying software-based VDI/PCoIP solutions
  • Experience in building and maintaining repositories via automation
  • Experience employing Linux CIS benchmarks for Linux endpoints
  • Experience working with and deploying SELinux or AppArmor
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking (routing and switching, VLANs, VPN, etc.)
  • Experience working with collaboration tools, conferencing systems, remote IT tools, and ticketing systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in technical and non-technical language, and translate information into comprehensible company-wide documentation and requirements
Annual base salary range of $150,000 to $250,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot day-to-day issues with a hands-on approach
  • Be the principal designer and escalation point for Linux endpoint and VDI/PCoIP engineering, security, and deployment-related issues across HRT
  • Investigate why issues happen, provide long-term solutions to prevent them from happening again, and maintain clear documentation for future reference
  • Research, test, and implement best practices for our technical stack and processes, and communicate highlights to both technical and non-technical end-users
