This is a role based in our new Soho Place office – opened in 2023 - in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking an experienced Linux Engineer with a strong engineering background and exceptional problem-solving skills.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrable experience in Linux systems administration
- Advanced problem-solving skills, with a proven track record in designing, implementing and supporting complex systems
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols
- Strong proficiency in Python for automation and integration Experience with CI/CD, preferably Jenkins
- Strong experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible and Terraform
- Experience with virtualisation and containerisation technologies, such as VMware, KVM, Docker and Kubernetes
- Demonstrable experience in leading successful technical projects
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
The following experience is preferred but not essential:
- Hands-on experience with C programming
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and OpenStack
Responsibilities:
G-Research is a fast-growing, software-driven organisation. We use large-scale deployments of distributed systems to drive research and monitoring capabilities within the business.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining, optimising and enhancing our Linux-based infrastructure.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Continuously assessing and optimising the Linux infrastructure for performance, scalability and efficiency
- Developing and maintaining our automation and tooling to streamline self-service provisioning and configuration management
- Setting up monitoring tools and systems to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Performing root cause analysis for complex problems
- Implementing and maintaining security best practices, including regular system patching
- Maintaining detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures and policies
- Developing junior members of our team in London
- Participating in on-call rotation and support duties as required
