Job Description
Role: Linux Operating System and Cloud infrastructure engineer.
Team: Hybrid Cloud, IaaS/Compute
Overview:
The Unix Engineering team is responsible for the strategy, engineering and delivery of the UNIX/Linux platforms within the bank.
Our focus is on automating all aspects of deployment, configuration, testing and management of the hardware, firmware, OS and clustering stack by integrating solutions such as Ansible into a larger continuous integration framework and pipeline.

Our team’s deliverables are;

  • Delivering and maintaining core builds for our Invest Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Suse Linux Enterprise Server platform. Supporting legacy build patterns
  • Creation of standard Deutsche Bank OS patterns in public cloud venues
  • Maintain automation of image build functions
  • Ensure the build functions as expected in target cloud environments
  • Level 3 Subject Matter Expert support for critical problems within the estate

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Unix Engineering team you will provide key skills and experience to support a number of engineering initiatives. You will be expected to work with other members of the team, other engineering teams, vendors and with application development teams.
  • Engineering standard operating system builds for use in Google Cloud, Azure Cloud with existing layered products, using RedHat Enterprise Linux and Suse Linux Enterprise Server
  • Ensuring that public cloud operating system patterns are compliant with Deutsche Bank security and standard build requirements
  • Engagement and collaboration with other Deutsche Bank teams working with public cloud functionality –security, networks, active directory, etc.
  • Design and build of operating system build pipeline to prepare and deliver public cloud ready operating system images into public cloud space
  • Act as subject matter expert for infrastructure as a service/public cloud within the Unix engineering team
  • Writing technical documentation, including design documentation, training materials, and white papers
  • Management and ownership of selected critical problem cases within the bank, drive through to resolution as level 3 subject matter expertise engineering resource

Skills & Qualifications:

  • In-depth cloud skills, experience of configuring and deploying linux images in public cloud
  • Experience with VMware vRealise automation, vRealise orchestration desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux and Suse Linux Enterprise Server
  • OS level problem determination, problem analysis and tuning experience (memory, disk, network, file system, etc.) desirable
  • Experience with HashiCorp Packer and Terraform
  • Experience with git/stash, TeamCity/Jenkins, Jira, Confluence desirable
  • Experience/skills working with VMware vSphere, vCenter desirable
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Perl, shell)
