Overview:
We are currently expanding our team and are in search of an outstanding individual to join Gallagher Bassett within our Strata division as a Litigation Assistant. Working from our Chelmsford office, this is a brilliant opportunity to work with prestigious corporate clients, take ownership of your own caseload of litigated motor cases, and play a pivotal role in driving our firm’s resounding success.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Defending litigated motor claims on behalf of large corporates from issue to trial; claims to include personal injury/property damage; credit hire; LVI and fraud.
  • Assessing liability and setting and maintaining reserves in accordance with client service level agreements and client “key performance indicators”.
  • Investigation of merits of third party claim.
  • Telephone and correspondence negotiation with third parties, third party insurers and third party solicitors to agree the best client outcome.
  • Valuing General and Special Damages.
  • On all own handled claims ensure full compliance with all office protocols, client service level agreements and client “key performance indicators”.
  • Achieving on all own handled claims 100% data integrity compliance on the office case management system.
  • Working within and supporting the litigation team to achieve and maintain full compliance with all office protocols, client service level agreements and client “key performance indicators”.
  • Delegation and supervision of appropriate tasks to the Claims Administration Assistants.
  • Full compliance on all financial transactions with the client service level agreements and client “key performance indicators” and The Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Acting as a technical and procedural referral for others in the litigation team.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field; additional certifications or qualifications are a plus
  • Proven experience in handling litigated motor cases, preferably within a corporate setting
  • Strong knowledge of motor insurance law, regulations, and legal procedures.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide junior team members
  • Proficiency in using legal research tools and case management software
