Gentry Locke Attorneys is seeking a litigation associate to join the Roanoke office. The associate should have a desire to participate actively in litigation and trials and have the confidence to interact with clients. The successful candidate will be expected to think creatively and spontaneously and have the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team. The associate will handle various litigation matters in the Plaintiffs Practice Group and in the Civil Defense Litigation Practice Group with a focus on workers compensation. The basic requirements to become our next team member: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Virginia; if not currently a member of the Virginia Bar, the selected candidate must become a member promptly. Desired experience: 1-3 years litigation experience.

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• 1-3 years litigation experience.
• Knowledge of law and legal practice in order to perform substantive legal functions in client matters.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
• Analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of legal matters.
• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by e-mail, in-person and telephone with a diverse group of clients, lawyers, witnesses and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
• Ability to travel extensively locally and statewide to attend to clients needs on legal matters. Multi-state travel a possibility.
• Work requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
