Description:
Litigation Paralegals will be responsible for assisting attorneys with all steps of the litigation process. The ideal candidates should have a minimum of 5 years’ paralegal experience. If you have previous experience in medical, personal injury, or federal tort claims, we would like to meet you. A successful paralegal will be able to easily jump in and get to work with minimal training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o The ability to read voluminous documents in a short amount of time.
o Great attention to detail and analytical skills.
o Compliance with all client confidentiality agreements according to Federal, State, and contract laws; as well as the ethical standards of the legal profession, as applicable.
o Information Technology literate (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Google Chrome, time tracking software, spell-check add-ons, etc.)
o Patient, adaptable, flexible, and able to improvise while remaining responsive to ongoing demands.
o Communicate clearly and effectively under pressure.
o Great interpersonal skills in legal and business English, with experience working alongside multicultural teams.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
o 5+ proven working experience as litigation paralegal
o Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system
o Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Must have familiarity and experience with both single event and mass torts.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
o Paralegal certification
o 5 years of experience in the role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15-20 pounds at times.
Responsibilities:
o Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and emails with law firm clients.
o Draft, organize, maintain, and obtain relevant documents as appropriate.
o Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
o Keep an updated log of all client case files and interactions in practice management system.
o Organize exhibits, documents, briefs and appendices
o Help train Legal Assistant to complete administrative tasks.
o Providing general support to the attorney handling the case, including scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars.
o Communicating with clients, and other parties involved in the case
o Assist in trial preparation by preparing binders, indexing discovery, and preparing trial exhibits.
o Other duties as assigned.
