Description:
Riverland Federal Credit Union is seeking a Full-Time Loan Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have exemplary organizational, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills. This position will be located at our Main Office at 639 Loyola Ave New Orleans, LA 70113 and will work Monday- Friday.
The Loan Officer will be responsible for assisting members with their consumer lending and mortgage needs, analyzing loan request and making credit decisions based on lending guidelines and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Loan Processor, Loan Officer or related field is required.
- A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
- Previous experience in a credit union is a plus.

Responsibilities:
- Interviews loan applicants to develop information concerning loan needs, earnings, and financial condition.
- Underwrites loan requests, to include analyzing current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit. Includes deciding an approval, denial, or offering a counteroffer. Reports any suspicious activity or potential loan fraud to management.
- Efficiently and effectively communicates with applicant throughout the loan process.
- Participates in sales development activities, such as cross selling loan products and credit union services to applicants. Participates in selling TruStage’s Debt Protection product to members.
- Creates, assembles, and provides loan documents to applicants.
- Maintains loan officer queues to ensure that loan applications are decisioned and processed timely and accurately.
- Required to complete annual in-services to include critically identified areas: BSA, Compliance, Security and Workplace Conduct Follow all Credit Union procedures at all times.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
