We are looking for a dedicated Loan Processing Specialist to join our FarmCash Team on a 6-month term (40 hours per week), with the potential to transition to a permanent, full-time role. Reporting to the Senior Manager of FarmCash, this position plays a key role in supporting our loan servicing operations. FarmCash is one of the administrators of the Advance Payments Program (APP), a federal loan guarantee initiative that provides agricultural producers with easy access to low-cost cash advances.
As a Loan Processing Specialist, you will manage the loan application and adjudication process, guiding borrowers through every step of the loan lifecycle—from the initial inquiry to loan closing. Your expertise in loan adjudication, document processing, and customer service, along with your attention to detail and knowledge of lending practices, will be essential in ensuring efficient loan processing and adherence to compliance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in banking, lending, or financial services.
- Underwriting experience is an asset.
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in finance, economics, business administration, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail in evaluating loan applications, assessing risks, and making lending decisions.
- Solid knowledge of lending regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, solve problems effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and numerical calculations.
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a dynamic and evolving industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and dedicated to continuous professional growth.
Responsibilities:
Customer Support and Loan Application Management
- Serve as the primary contact for borrowers, offering guidance and responding to inquiries throughout the loan application process.
- Assist loan officer/s in processing applications, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with policies.
- Facilitate clear communication and updates between loan officers, borrowers, and other stakeholders.
Loan Adjudication and Underwriting Preparation
- Prepare loan files by verifying applicant information, gathering required documentation, and conducting initial eligibility assessments.
- Review and adjudicate loans, using credit analysis (5 Cs: character, capacity, capital, collateral, and conditions) to evaluate risk.
Risk Assessment and Compliance Monitoring
- Support the risk assessment and compliance process by identifying discrepancies or red flags.
- Ensure all activities comply with lending regulations and internal policies.
Problem Resolution and Quality Control
- Address and resolve issues or discrepancies in loan applications and documentation.
- Conduct quality control checks on loan files to ensure accuracy and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
Reporting and Analysis
- Generate and analyze reports on loan application statuses, processing times, underwriting outcomes, and other metrics to identify trends and process improvements.
- Additional responsibilities may be delegated to meet operational requirements.
