POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager role for Smarte Carte at the West Edmonton Mall is a hands-on position that requires the manager to be on the floor assisting guests, repairing equipment while also managing the operation. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring increasing levels of customer satisfaction and employee engagement while building a culture of accountability, performance and integrity. The Operations Manager reports to the District Service Manager and is responsible for the locations P&L, achieving annual revenue and EBITDA goals as well as improving the efficiency of labor, materials and equipment. The Operations Manager is a highly visible position, which will drive value and significantly impact bottom-line profitability at Smart Carte, with potential to advance to more management opportunities.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operational function such as manufacturing, logistics, distribution, process improvement, etc.
  • P&L management experience is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct management experience and the ability to manage across a wide range of capabilities and personalities Possess strategic leadership, planning and thinking skills, business assessment acumen and value chain mind-set.
  • Experience with working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proven change management leadership capability and strong analytical skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated strong business acumen as defined by a proven track record of success in an operational environment.
  • Ability to forge solid relationships with external constituents e.g. customers, clients, supplier partners, etc. and manage across a wide range of capabilities and personalities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills; must be proficient in reading, interpreting, and analyzing financial statements, and understand how operational KPI’s affect financial outcomes.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/Suite
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • This is a ‘hands-on position;’ the Operations Manager will repair equipment, clean equipment and assist customers as needed.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years’ experience in an operationally-oriented management role is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Walk and stand for duration of shift (8 hours)
  • Lift 40 lbs. to waist height
  • Push/pull 75-100 lbs.; move up to 15 carts simultaneously
  • Completion of online Assessment is required for consideration

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the P&L, with the expectation to deliver excellent results vs. annual and strategic plans.
  • Lead the operations at the West Edmonton Mall (staff of approximately 8 associates).
  • This hands-on position requires the Operations Manager to operate at other malls and retail locations in the West Edmonton area in addition to the West Edmonton Mall;
  • Repair, maintain and clean equipment as needed.
  • Perform cash collections, end of month financial reconciliation, daily reporting of results, and human resource functions to include payroll, hiring and training.
  • Ensure daily operational performance goals are met through managing the labor force, and usage analysis.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to include mall management as well as with peers within Smarte Carte.
  • Other duties as assigned.
