Locomotive Maintainer

We are currently seeking dynamic and passionate Locomotive Maintainers to join our team. Successful candidates will face daily operational challenges due to the unpredictability of equipment failures. Attention to detail and diligence are crucial to thrive in this role.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Trade qualifications in Mechanical Fitters, Boilermaker, Diesel Mechanics, and/or Electrical Fitters
• Availability for work schedules involving shift work and reasonable overtime as required
• Extensive trade and industry experience relevant to the qualifications
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels and work collaboratively in delivering high levels of customer service
• Understanding and adherence to Rail Occupational Health and Safety principles and practices
• Valid Australian driver’s license
• Successful completion of pre-employment checks, including Category 1 Rail Medical, Musculoskeletal Assessment, and ongoing Drug and Alcohol testing

DESIRABLE:

• Familiarity with the rail industry, particularly diesel locomotives and associated rolling stock maintenance and servicing requirements, would be advantageous
• Additional qualifications such as forklift, crane chaser, refrigerant handling licenses, etc.

Responsibilities include performing repairs, actively participating in modification programs, equipment reconditioning, fault finding, testing, managing derailments and mishaps, continuously improving production activities to enhance workplace safety in either the workshop or field operations, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed diligently, accurately, and promptly.
