Description:

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Diagnostic Radiologist with a sub-speciality interest in urological imaging. This post has arisen for maternity cover. It offers an excellent opportunity to join an established team of diagnostic Radiologists.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is at the forefront of urological imaging and research.
We were the first site in West London to set up the RAPID prostate same-day diagnostic pathway that saw reduction in time to treatment from 40+ days to 10 days. The success of our pathway led to the roll-out of this service across London and the details of our programme was recently documented in the BJUI article and its companion video on the BJUI website.
The applicants must hold a CCT in Clinical Radiology (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within 6 months of being granted a CCT. Candidates with appropriate accreditation in radiology who wish to work only part-time or on a sessional basis are encouraged to apply, as are applicants interested in job-sharing.
The post holder will contribute to the urological imaging service across the Trust’s three main sites including ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT and MR reporting. Specifically, the post holder will be responsible for reporting RAPID prostate MR. The post holder may contribute to MDTs and this commitment will be agreed following appointment.
In addition to subspecialist programmed activities, the successful candidates will be expected to contribute specific sessions to the general work of the department, including duty “hot desk” reporting, general CT, MRI, US and plain radiographs. Part of this will take the form of an extended day performing an acute cross sectional reporting session.
Rapid access and the safe and efficient reporting of inpatient and emergency workload are key priorities, and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the general work of the department, including plain film and CT reporting, which is delivered by a large consultant team across 7 days, and includes a daytime duty rota, scheduled but infrequent and flexible sessions at weekends and also extended weekdays.
The successful candidate will be expected to make a contribution to training as well as to work with the divisional team to help manage the service effectively. There is a strong focus on training, and our radiology training scheme is highly regarded, with approximately 60 trainees currently in post, many in sub-specialty training.
