Description:
The Trust is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist to continue the development of the gastroenterology and endoscopy services at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12 month fixed term post. Applications from individuals with a specialist interest in any area of gastroenterology would be welcomed. Experience in Endoscopic Ultrasound would be desirable.
Applicants must have full registration with the GMC including a License to Practice.
The posts are offered on a full-time basis; however, the Trust would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.
The Trust currently provides the Cheshire-wide Bowel Screening Programme and was accepted for the ‘age expansion’ programme in 2013 and the Bowel Scope Phase One in May 2014. Along with this flag ship service, the Trust also provides a full range of gastroenterology services including upper and lower endoscopy, ERCP, specialist inflammatory bowel disease clinics, a hepatology service and an anaemia clinic. These services are provided from one Gastroenterology ward. As an expanding service we can accommodate a wide range of subspecialty interests.
The Consultants will be expected to undertake outpatient clinics, endoscopy and review inpatients on the ward. There will also be a commitment to the ‘consultant of the week’ model where there is a designated consultant for the management and prioritisation of GI bleeds in hours and the newly appointed Consultant will be expected to participate on the Out of Hours Upper GI bleed rota.
Aspects of the role will be undertaken in our modern operating theatres and newly refurbished day treatment centre and endoscopy suite, with upgraded digital imaging facilities.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K). The Trust provides high quality planned and emergency care, cardiac, critical care, child health, maternity services and intermediate care at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford.
The Trust provides over 500 beds and employs over 5,100 members of staff. A comprehensive range of community services is provided across 26 medical centres and schools through our Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership.
We have played, and continue to play, a proactive role in the development of Integrated Care plans across Cheshire & Merseyside and our local Cheshire East and Cheshire West Place-based systems. We believe, and it is the cornerstone of our five-year Trust Strategy, there is the opportunity to progress innovative, responsive and effective care in the best setting for the patient, be it in the hospital or out in the community.
At Mid Cheshire, our mission is to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.
We welcome all applicants and assess all job applications based on knowledge, skills and experience needed for the post.
The 10 PA job plan is split into 9 PAs of Direct Clinical Care and 1 PA of Supporting Professional Activity per week as follows:
9 PAs for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) including outpatient clinics, endoscopy and admin
1 PA for SPA.
