Description:

University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia, working in the Pain Management Centre at the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and the department of Anaesthesia at University College Hospital. This post is required to cover clinical activity this year as well as ensuring a consultant led service at all times.

University College London Hospitals is a major teaching hospital in central London. It is a regional cancer centre and tertiary referral centre.

The Pain Management Centre comprises 13 consultants with a full multidisciplinary team. It is housed in a new purpose-designed facility and is a nationally recognised centre of excellence. There are unique opportunities to work with patients who experience persistent abdominal and pelvic pain, complex neuropathic pain, cancer-related pain, facial pain and inpatients with complex medical needs. We also have an active neuromodulation service.
University College Hospitals has twenty-four operating theatres. It is a regional cancer centre and tertiary referral centre, with particular expertise in bariatrics, upper and lower GI, orthopaedics, urology, head and neck, paediatric, thoracic and endocrine surgery. The labour ward delivers 6000 women a year and has a special interest in high risk medical patients including GUCH. A regional block room provides high quality analgesia and is a hub for education and research. Our newest hospital - Grafton way Building has opened with a Proton Beam service and eight further theatres.
