Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in the Glaucoma Service within the North Division.
This post is being offered as a full-time post.
This full time Locum Consultant post offers 8 programmed activities to provide direct clinical care within the Glaucoma services at the Moorfields clinics at Northwick Park and Bedford, and 2 SPAs.
Supervision and teaching of junior staff will be required as well as administrative responsibilities related to service provision. The job plan does not currently involve evenings or weekend sessions, however it may evolve to should it suit the business needs.
The successful applicant will be expected to take part in the Moorfields Glaucoma Consultant On-Call rota covering Moorfields North-West, North East and City Road sites - OCAS 1% category B.
However this may change to being a part of a regional on-call rota in the future once a covered rota has been arranged.
The postholder will be responsible for the ongoing care and management of Glaucoma patients within the trust. The successful candidate will be expected to provide training for junior doctors and to support the further development of the Allied Health Care Professionals within the service.
Candidates should have completed their Specialist Training in Ophthalmology, have their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent, or be within six months of their CCT date. Candidates are required to be in possession of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists or equivalent. The holder of this post is required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice. The successful candidate should have completed at least a year of subspecialty Medical Retina fellowship training.
All doctors are responsible to maintain a portfolio of their career over the last 5 years in order to satisfy GMC Revalidation criteria. If successful, you will be required to bring along your supporting information portfolio including recent appraisals documents when joining the Trust.
