We are looking for a part itme consultant with an interest in rehabilitation to work for up to 1 year on our male high intensity rehabilitation ward, Somerset Villa/. This is to take the place of the substantive post holder who is taking a 1 year sabbatical. The post is shared with another part time substantive consultant and supported by a full time substantive specialty doctor.
This would be an ideal opportunity for a specialty doctor with an interest in general adult or rehabilitation psychiatry. Robust clinical and managerial support will be provided to the post holder in ensuring that they are able to deliver the best possible service.
Please refer to the Job Description for this fixed term, part time post. This job description includes the Person Specifications and the draft clinical model for Cumbria Villa.

Enfield Urgent Care Services consist of four in-patient wards (Dorset, Suffolk, Sussex and Devon) and the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT). The advertised post is for a consultant on Somerset Villa which is a 1 3 -bed male high dependency rehabilitation ward at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield. The post is available as the current substantive consultant will be taking a sabbatical for 12 months.
Somerset Villa forms part of the North Central London inpatient rehabilitation services and serves Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. Patients from Camden and Islington are served by Malachite and Montague Wards (at Highgate Centre for Mental Health) and long-term high dependency rehabilitation for men from all 5 boroughs is provided on Sunstone Ward, also at the Highgate Centre. There is no current female rehabilitation provision for patients from Barnet, Enfield and Haringey and this is therefore sourced externally.
The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is going from strength to strength since it was originally established in 2021 forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.
Why choose to join the Partnership?
We believe that by working together, our two Trusts can achieve more for the residents of North Central London and our patients than we can by working apart.
Deliver the best care using the most up-to-date practise in supporting those with mental health illnesses.
Transforming and creating a positive environment for our service users, staff and visitors.
Creating and working together to become a great place to work for all our staff.
We offer flexible working, a wide range of health and wellbeing initiatives, NHS Pension and so much more.
Generous Annual Leave Allowance
NHS Discounts in a large variety of retail stores and services.
We have excellent internal staff network support groups.
The postholder will need to be comfortable working in an environment of complex matrix management arrangements and will at all times behave and align with our Trusts’ values and cultural pillars:
We are kind
We are respectful
We work together
We keep things simple
We empower
We are proudly diverse
In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work.
Consultants are expected to regularly attend the weekly consultant meeting and the weekly academic program. Whilst several CPD peer groups have formed within Enfield, the consultants are also encouraged to seek peer groups outside the organization as an opportunity to network and share experience with colleagues from other services. A monthly Balint-Group for consultants is planned to re-start very soon following the new appointment of a consultant psychotherapist. This gives opportunity to conduct in-depth case-based discussions (CbD) required for annual appraisals and revalidation. New consultants (up to five years following appointments) are encourages to link in as a group and are supported by the Medical Leads during their induction. New consultants are also encouraged to make use of the Start Well program facilitated by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. All new consultants are given the opportunity to seek a mentor within or outside the organization as part of their job plan
