Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly-created Locum Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to work across the South Wales Regional Paediatric Network. This is a locum post available for a period of 3 months and is pending recruitment to a new substantive Consultant post in the near future.
The post – hosted by Cardiff and Vale UHB – features a trauma component in Cardiff and an elective commitment at Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB. The post provides a unique opportunity to benefit from and input into the whole of the Paediatric Orthopaedic health system across South Wales as work continues to develop the South Wales Paediatric Network.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should preferably either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within three months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary for this post is £105,401 per annum.
Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
The full-time post holder will deliver their sessional commitments over a six-week cycle. There will be an attachment to an existing trauma team but there will be special responsibilities to patients admitted under the auspices of the Major Trauma Centre.
There is an on-call commitment which is currently 1 in 6 weekends (Friday midday to Monday morning) and approximately 1 in 4 week-days.
