Responsibilities:

GELS plays an important role in supporting the care sector in Gloucestershire. We are responsible for the distribution, delivery, installation, collection, maintenance and minor adaptations of medical and telecare equipment to support people being discharged from hospital and to help people to remain independent in their own home. The service is delivered on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council and One Gloucestershire.
The main responsibility of this role is to work in a two-person crew by providing support and assistance to the driver in the distribution, fitting and collection of medical equipment to members of the public.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Prepare the van for operation by inspecting its general condition, safety checks, checking fluid levels and tyre pressure, and obtaining or scheduling repairs with the transport team
  • Load the van to deliver and collect in the most effective and efficient way
  • Equipment collections are undertaken appropriately and additional items are added in the field
  • Ensure infection control and personal protections guidelines are adhered to when undertaking your role
  • Work with wider team colleagues to resolve issues
  • Supporting the driver with fitting and installing equipment as detailed by health prescribers

This is an interesting and varied role within an established and supportive team, making a difference to people in Gloucestershire. You would be working alongside Logistic Officers (drivers), other Logistic Assistants, team leaders and an administration team.
