We are hiring a Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist in Wilhelmsen Ship Services.
The Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist optimizes the company’s trade and logistics activities and oversees the trade compliance program across the Asia Pacific Region. Acting as the subject matter expert, the role involves training stakeholders, ensuring adherence to import/export regulations, and managing risk. The Specialist collaborates with regional stakeholders and service providers, conducts audits, and leads business reviews for freight forwarders and last-mile delivery providers. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for articulating regulatory compliance across various countries.

Who you will report to:
The Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist reports to the Singapore Operations Manager

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and implement freight strategies to optimize lead times and achieve competitive rates.
  • Conduct quarterly freight rate market surveys and provide business recommendations.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews with freight forwarders and last-mile delivery providers.
  • Assess freight forwarder performance using scorecards and drive improvement plans.
  • Support audits to ensure freight and last-mile delivery documentation complies with WSS standards.
  • Ensure regional compliance with customs, export controls, and tax regulations, maintaining accurate documentation and procedures.
  • Review internal trade compliance controls, address risks, manage audit programs, and implement regional improvements.
  • Establish and maintain localized import/export compliance policies and promote company-wide awareness.
  • Act as the primary contact for freight and trade compliance in the Asia Pacific Region.
  • Oversee trade compliance and logistics for new business setups, product launches, and new shipping trade lanes.
  • Monitor and report KPIs to management monthly.

What we are looking for:

What you bring:

  • Preferably to have bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics or International Business.
  • 5 years international freight and trade experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of import and export regulations.
  • Good knowledge in custom regulations in the Asia Pacific Regions.
  • Systematic and accurate nature
  • Experience in reviewing and improving trade compliance policies and procedures (preferred).
