Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Logistic Scheduler will work closely within a team of Schedulers and Analysts to effectively implement, service and support either the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), refined products or crude, asphalt and fuel (CAF) marketing business. The successful candidate will collaborate with each internal department, as well as external customers and stakeholders, to insure the safe and efficient movement of products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with traders to manage monthly contracts and provide support and advice to traders by determining daily physical positions, and transportation capacity and utilization forecasts by asset.
  • Ensures pipeline optimization by understanding trade deals and supply/demand requirements.
  • Understand, track, and develop communications to advise key stakeholders of Force Majeure, apportionment, and pipeline outages.
  • Monitors hedging and position reporting.
  • Builds strong relationships through networking with industry customers and pipelines to understand key business drivers and anticipate industry trends.
  • Works strictly with the traders to optimize trade margins, making sure the economics on origin destination pairs are maximized and supply is strategically placed for maximum revenue recognition.
  • Manages multiple pipelines, terminals and tanks: adapting to fast paced market changes as described by the traders, manage inventory positions effectively and communicate any variances to traders. Ensure daily reconciliation of inventory positions with traders.
  • Resolves day to day logistics issues while being proactive and highly responsive, this includes ensuring all notice of shipments are updated in a timely manner, pipeline/terminal/tank issues and impacts are communicated to the key commercial team members. Provide recommendations and solutions to commercial team to minimize any PNL impact.
  • Ensure that monthly nominations are accurate and submitted timely, this includes 3rd party deal confirmation, notice of shipment submissions in all portals ensuring any volumetric discrepancies are resolved, pipeline apportionment is communicated to commercial team and any volumetric adjustments are updated and communicated to affected stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Completes month end responsibilities including actualizing shipper balances, resolving any volumetric discrepancies, deal reconciliation and ensuring that month end duties are submitted to the Logistics Manager within the reporting deadlines.
  • Works diligently with credit and risk to make sure Elbow’s financial positions are within appropriate limits to reduce unnecessary risk.
  • Ensures all North American counterparties receive a hands-on approach relating to Tax, Accounting, Credit and customs requirements for all cross border shipments.
  • Regularly monitors deal progress, making certain that trade performance is achieved.
  • Responsible for maintaining take or pay and refinery production numbers while providing strategic direction.
  • Assist in reaching cost savings goals of department.
  • Works on freight optimization to realize the highest margins.
  • Ensures 12+ inventory positions are correctly reported, with all associating IT transfers, rail loads/offloads and truck tickets are balanced.
  • Assist in maintaining industry contacts and engaging in continual subleasing efforts.
  • Sends daily BOLs, weekly reports, and contract status updates to customers.
  • Negotiates Truck Freight and Fuel Surcharges as needed.
  • Ensures that Bill of Ladings for Truck has the required information and is tracked appropriately and recorded for in Allegro.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Logistics or a related field.
  • 3-10 years of experience in a truck logistics role, oil and gas would be an asset.
  • Strong understanding of informational database systems.
  • High level analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to think outside of the box and deal with ambiguity.
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills including experience with excel and ETRM software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adjust to changing and conflicting demands, responsibilities and issues.
  • High level of aptitude for time management.
  • Enthusiastic learner with demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in a high volume, fast-paced and evolving work environment.
  • Strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved.
  • Full understanding of tank car mechanics, repair costs, bad order process, and OTMA requirements.
  • Strong financial understanding to realize the bottom line impact of decision making.
  • High attention to detail with proven ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of the energy sector’s liquid business environment would be an asset.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and other logistics related certifications are an asset.
  • Professional CCIT Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation considered an asset.
  • Experience with Allegro would be an asset.
