WHAT WE DO.

A fantastic opportunity for a Logistics Section Leader has arisen to join the team at our Bo’ness site. Our Bo’ness site employs over 1,000 people and produces food-to-go salads and salad accompaniments to a number of customers. It is located 3.5 miles from Linlithgow and 8 miles to Falkirk.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Accountabilities within the role would include:

  • Maintaining daily KPI measures, related to performance management, including first level formal written disciplinary action, performance review, absence management (including return to work procedures)
  • Manage improvement activities including KPIs, waste management and production control processes and associated administration and record keeping.
  • Monitoring GMP standards for your departments ensuring the team are performing to quality standards in terms of GMP, food safety, product quality and presentation and housekeeping.
  • Ensure that their team are correctly deployed and are performing to standards in adherence to the plan. Manage breaks and the shift changeover process to ensure it does not disrupt productivity and workflow
  • Ensure that operatives are coached and trained in all aspects of their role, including health and safety and food safety standards and quality procedures.
  • Assisting the Logistic Manager in the management of staffing levels within the department and ensuring that labour is within the correct confines of the KPI’s.
  • Promoting across functional teamwork and ensuring good team working practices are maintained.
  • Ensure mechanisms are in place and supported to provide effective communication, upwards, downwards and sideways
  • In conjunction with HR participate in staff recruitment processes and induction.
  • Carry out necessary administrative tasks and produce data / reports as required including DWOR, T&A, holiday management and any other relevant data
  • Communicating and resolving issues between other departments & working with the HR department on all people related issues.
  • To encourage a safe working environment for all employees in their area by supporting and enforcing standards as set out in the Group Health and Safety policy.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE.

Reporting into our Logistics Section Manager, you will manage, organise and control effectively the day to day running of the logistics function ensuring internal and external customers’ requirements are met.
You will manage and control all materials handling equipment and transport within their area. As well as ensuring mechanisms are in place and supported to provide effective communication to all levels and conduct team briefs on a regular basis. You will also need to manage improvement activities including KPIs, waste management and production control processes and associated administration and record keeping.
A key part of the role will be to maintain all stock systems within your area of control to ensure stock takes and reconciliation are conducted in a timely fashion and all systems are accurate and up to date.
You will work with our other Logistics Section Leaders and your manager to identify, implement and sustain industry best practice and exceed expectations against departmental targets and budgets. You will also pro-actively manage and motivate a small logistics team and provide direction to ensure all operatives in their area are correctly deployed and are performing to standards in health and safety, food safety and good manufacturing practices.
As Section Leader, you will have line management responsibility for your section which will include training and developing your section as well as performance management including first level disciplinaries and absence management.
To be responsible for the people, safety, quality, cost control and delivery of plan in designated area of warehouse/despatch/logistics/end of line/perimeter/grounds/staff shop, and to ensure that others within the area fulfil their responsibilities.
