We are looking for a talented Logistics Specialist to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Logistics, Warehousing and Purchasing Department in Ikeja, Nigeria .

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in applicable field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of internship or equivalent work experience in a logistics or other appropriate supply chain role, along with supply chain knowledge.
  • Demonstrated role competence is required, and this position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities:

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

  • Trade Operations and Compliance – Researches and monitors local laws, regulations, procedures and applicable benefits related to import/export transactions; prepares summaries of new regulations for review by team members.
  • Monitors import/export activity for all business units in the assigned geography; gathers and manages import/export data (including classification data) for the assigned geography; drafts management reports on import/export activities.
  • Gathers all necessary documentation to draft and submits applications for import/export licenses; monitors approval process with appropriate governmental contacts.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with appropriate governmental organizations in Nigeria.
  • Communicates with brokers to ensure that the organization has appropriate supporting documentation and consistent compliance with import/export regulations.
  • Builds relationships with vendors, brokers, and other external resources to understand and apply best practices and current data to projects.
  • Analyzes import/export activities to ensure that Cummins does not exceed limits or violate any restrictions on import/export activities, and prepares documentation to support the importing and exporting of materials and applicable benefits.
  • Executes team processes as directed and provides input into process improvements related to immediate area of influence.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:

  • Strong Compliance Knowledge: Understanding and staying updated on local laws, regulations, and procedures related to import/export transactions and export controls is crucial. This includes preparing summaries, monitoring activities, and ensuring compliance.
  • Effective Relationship Management: Building and maintaining relationships with governmental organizations, brokers, vendors, and other external resources will help you navigate regulations and apply best practices.
  • Analytical Skills: Analysing import/export activities, monitoring compliance, and evaluating carrier performance will help you identify areas for improvement and ensure that operations run smoothly without exceeding limits or violating restrictions.
  • Project Management and Process Improvement: Balancing scope, schedule, and resources for projects, while providing input into process improvements, will ensure that you can effectively manage tasks and contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics operations.
