POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Logistics Specialist - Intermodal/Rail to join our team. This role is dedicated to managing and optimizing rail and intermodal shipments, both within Canada and across the US/Canada border. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in intermodal and rail logistics and excel in coordinating complex shipment requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Rail and Intermodal Operations: Manage daily rail and intermodal operations, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating shipments to ensure timely delivery
- Carrier Coordination: Work closely with rail carriers and intermodal providers to secure and optimize transportation solutions
- Route Optimization: Develop strategies to enhance route efficiency, reduce transit times, and minimize costs
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company procedures for rail and intermodal transportation
- Issue Resolution: Address and resolve any issues related to rail and intermodal shipments, including delays and discrepancies
- Documentation: Prepare and manage necessary documentation for cross-border rail shipments and maintain accurate records
- Capacity Management: Source additional rail and intermodal capacity during peak periods or recovery situations
- Customer Interaction: Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding rail and intermodal shipments, providing timely updates and resolving any concerns
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process enhancements in rail and intermodal logistics
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and handle tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
