Wellington Plant, Bury is part of Milliken’s Performance Textiles Division and is a multi-award-winning textile manufacturer supplying fabric products into Airbag systems for automotive vehicles. Role (summary)
The Loom Technician shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Diagnosing the cause of cloth and mechanical defects and making the necessary corrections
Completing all minor repairs on all looms Ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures are followed in full to complete tasks such as style changes
Ensuring Preventative Maintenance (PM) duties such as checking Rapiers, settings, worn and loose parts, loom lubrication etc. are carried out in accordance with the PM schedule
Assisting with major overhauling where required
Working as part of the production team to ensure minimum downtime
Controlling the use of weaving spares
Maintaining the highest possible levels of quality, efficiency and maintenance
Ensuring all loom settings are to specification
Complying with Health & Safety practices and Company policies
Ensuring that work areas are kept clean, clear and hazard free
Reporting all accidents as required
Performing any other task that is of a reasonable request in line with the production department.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience and knowledge of working with Rapier and Waterjet looms.
Excellent health and safety practices and knowledge
Reliable and enthusiastic.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Able to work to given tolerances and measurements
An organised team player with strong communication skills
Keen eye for detail and housekeeping.
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to communicate at all levels
Understanding of Kanban systems, standard work and C.S.D. (continuous skills development)
Experience of following Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals
Knowledge of weaving processes would be advantageous
Knowledge of Barco would be advantageous
Experience of implementing Lean practices would be advantageous.

Location: Bury site
Hours of work: Shift work – 4 on/4 off, 2 days/2 nights
