Description:
Introductory Note: We are seeking candidates with Solid process safety design experience with expertise in code consulting, design reviews in a consultancy atmosphere. Apply only if you meet the requirements.
As a Loss Prevention Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our operations by providing expert guidance and support in safety and loss prevention. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of activities including Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), consequence modeling, and hazardous area classification, utilizing industry-leading tools such as PHAST and FRED. You will contribute to existing plant operations, facility modifications, and new projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience in conducting HAZOP studies, consequence modeling, and QRA.
Proficiency in using safety and risk assessment software such as PHAST, PHA-Pro, or similar tools.
In-depth knowledge of international safety standards and codes (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional certification in process safety (e.g., CCPS, TUV Functional Safety Engineer).
Familiarity with environmental regulations and their impact on process safety.
Experience in the chemical, oil and gas, or manufacturing industries
Responsibilities:
Risk Assessment and Consequence Modeling:
- Perform Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) using tools like PHAST and FRED.
- Conduct consequence modeling to predict potential impacts of hazardous events.
- Develop hazardous area classification reports and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Project Support and Engineering:
- Provide safety and loss prevention expertise during conceptual studies, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and basic engineering stages for both facility modifications and new multi-discipline projects.
- Prepare detailed EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Scope of Work documents related to safety and loss prevention.
Safety Review and Leadership:
- Lead and participate in safety reviews, including HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, PHSER, LSE, QRA, FHA, and PHA studies.
- Oversee cause and effects reviews, ensuring all safety implications are thoroughly analyzed and addressed.
Technical Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare, review, and approve Loss Prevention deliverables for proposed modifications and new projects.
- Interpret and ensure adherence to safety codes, standards, and best practices relevant to the Oil and Gas industry.
- Provide technical support and interpretation of P&IDs, PFDs, logic diagrams, SAFE charts, and cause and effect diagrams.
HAZOP Studies:
- Lead and facilitate HAZOP studies to identify potential hazards and operability issues in process systems.
- Document findings and recommend corrective actions to mitigate identified risks.
