POSITION SUMMARY:
Position: Full-Time - Permanent
Location: Fort McKay - Incubator - Head Office
Schedule: 4 on / 3 off - 10 hour days
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 2-5 years heavy equipment hauling is mandatory
- Must have a Valid Class 1 with clean 5 year driver’s abstract
- Ability to lift and pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in all weather
- Ability to work shift work (7-7, 12 hour days with averaging agreement)
- Safety conscious attitude
- CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019) - will be required upon hire/before coming to site
- Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol and a Fit for Duty test
- Applicants must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English
Responsibilities:
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Lowbed Operator is responsible for operating and moving heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, water trucks, snowplows and other pieces of equipment. The Lowbed Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, as well as company policies and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate all assigned equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Pick-up and deliver equipment (dozers, excavators, rock trucks, graders, class 8 trucks, etc.) to and from plant sites surrounding Fort McKay and Fort McMurray
- Read, countersign and enter comments into daily operator log book
- Complete and document a pre‐operational check on assigned equipment
- Grease equipment as necessary
- Ensure all equipment has proper safety equipment in place
- Keep interior clean
- Any required repairs to assigned equipment are communicated to maintenance personnel
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with customers and other employees
- Participate in Job Hazard Assessment’s, Feld Level Risk Assessment’s and line‐up meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
- Assist in and around shop and yard when no deliveries required
