Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Material Control team, the LSS Shipping Coordinator will report to the Manager, Material Control and is responsible for coordinating and managing the shipping process for the organization and provide direction on shipping to vendors and the shipping department.

  • Recommend and select best methods of transportation of material to and from Line Maintenance Base(s)/Transit Line Maintenance Base(s).
  • Coordinate with shipping vendors to provide timelines and cost(s).
  • Ensure shipping costs to and from LMB/TLMB are in line with budget by sourcing shipping quotes on behalf of all departments.
  • Negotiate rates and service agreements with couriers and freight forwarding companies.
  • Plan and track shipments based on product availability and customer requirements, ensuring orders make timely deliveries.
  • Work with customs brokers/freight forwarders/CBSA/Couriers to facilitate expedient clearance of shipments.
  • Respond to questions/complaints from internal/external organization
  • Prepare, review, and organize all shipment documentation, invoices, quotes, and service provider records.
  • Make process improvements on shipping processes and provide follow-up training to departments involved in the shipping process, when required.
  • Review freight invoices and approved cost for Finance
  • Additional duties as required.
