Description:
What inspired you to choose a degree in engineering and what challenges did you face along the way?
I chose to study engineering because it represented a considerable personal challenge, and I had a great interest in the topics covered by the discipline. Despite recommendations to reflect on the decision—due to the perception that it is a predominantly male field—I remained determined to pursue my career goals.
How do you think the presence of more women in engineering can transform the industry?
The presence of women in engineering can provide inspiration to those who have not yet decided to take the plunge. Currently, the environment area at Knight Piésold Argentina is made up of 60% women, which reflects a commitment to inclusion and diversity in the professional field. This gender balance not only encourages a greater diversity of ideas and approaches but also contributes to greater innovation in the industry.
Can you comment on a project, task or deliverable that you are particularly proud of?
My participation as an engineer is integral within the environment area, and my work leads me to get involved in all projects from their beginning to their conclusion, offering support mainly in the control and management of consultancies. Despite my professional youth, I have developed skills and abilities that have allowed me to implement various changes according to the complexity of the projects and in the control and management system. New strategies have been integrated for the projection of consultancies, as well as for the management and projection of expenses. This challenge has allowed us as a team to achieve a harmonious management of the area, which can be seen in our results.
What advice would you give to young women who are considering studying engineering but have doubts about entering a field traditionally dominated by men?
To young women who are considering studying engineering, I would advise them to be confident in their skills, abilities and potential. Engineering requires a diversity of perspectives and skills, and each individual has something unique to bring to the table. Engineering will provide them with the tools they need to effectively tackle and solve any problem.
What are the challenges and experiences that stand out for you as an engineer (in general and as part of Knight Piésold)?
The biggest challenge I face as an engineer at Knight Piésold is managing the various complexities that arise in projects: from writing proposals to delivering results and finding new projects. This involves keeping up to date with project developments and the current economic context. Knight Piésold encourages us to continue developing technical and analytical skills, with the constant support of colleagues and friends.
What is it like to be a woman in this industry? Have you seen more inclusion of women engineers in teams in recent years?
Being a woman in the engineering industry can present several challenges, such as facing unconscious biases and prejudices. However, it also offers the opportunity to be part of transformational change by effectively promoting greater inclusion and diversity in the industry. This female participation contributes significantly to the progress of both the industry and society as a whole.
Knight Piésold is a company that values and encourages diversity. It is rewarding to be part of a team that practices equality, as it reflects the company’s commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful work environment
