Description:

As a member of the Lung Cancer Nursing Team, you will provide on-going care and support to patients referred to the lung cancer service, providing practical help, emotional and psychological support to patients and carers as well as other healthcare professionals
Please be advised there is a proposed interview date of 11th December 2024.
1. To provide, as part of the multi-disciplinary team, a specialist support service for people referred to the lung cancer service, offering information, education and psychological support at the time of diagnosis and at other times in the course of their disease.
2. Act as a patient’s advocate where relevant, when informed discussion may lead to choices being made concerning treatment options.
3. Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings regularly in order to discuss clinical management of patient(s). Liaise with MDT co-ordinator to facilitate communication of decisions made to patients, GPs and other specialists. Expedite the patient pathway at all times.
4. Ensure all newly diagnosed lung cancer patients are offered nursing support and specialist assessment.
5. Participate in the monitoring, maintenance and development of standards in accordance with the Trust policies and procedures plus the Nursing and Midwifery Councils professional documents.
6. Liaise and complete referrals to community services including GPs, district nurses, palliative care / symptom control team, hospices, social services.
