Lung Cancer/Mesothelioma UK Clinical Nurse Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced cancer nurse to join our team as a Lung Cancer/Mesothelioma UK Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will be joining an established multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for offering expert clinical advice and emotional support to patients.
The CNS Team consists of a Team Leader and four Clinical Nurse Specialists working with a team of Consultant Oncologists to provide expert care to patients and their families throughout the cancer journey. The team is supported by the addition of a Clinical Support Worker. The Oncology Clinics take place in the Macmillan Cancer Centre. The team works closely with both the Psychological Support Service and the Macmillan Support and Information Service (MSIS) to develop support services and appropriate health and well being events to engage and empower our patient community.
This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual to be part of this highly specialised team. You will work as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team and use your clinical expertise to co -ordinate high-quality care. You will have the opportunity to improve patient care and help develop the service to help us meet the needs of the increasing number of patients living with and beyond their cancer diagnosis and receiving ever more complex treatments along more lengthy pathways.
The successful applicant will be an experienced cancer nurse with proven clinical skills and knowledge in the field of cancer. We are looking for an individual with strong communication skills who has the ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the physical and psychological challenges faced by this group of patients.

This role is part funded by the charity Mesothelioma UK, and in addition to the responsibilities described above, the successful candidate will spend the equivalent of 2 days per week focussing on the care of patients with Mesothelioma. This role presents a great opportunity to join a network of Mesothelioma UK nurses across the UK and to support the charity in raising awareness of Mesothelioma and supporting individuals with this diagnosis. You will also be expected to participate in the development of service provision for patients with Mesothelioma who are under the care of UCLH. As a part funded Mesothelioma UK Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will have the opportunity to attend 3 forums per year and you will join a rota where you periodically work half day sessions with Mesothelioma UK and participate in running the support line and answering clinical questions
