Description:

Carry out delegated lymphoedema treatment programmes in a variety of settings (e.g. community clinics)Encourage patients/carers to adopt an active approach to regaining andmaintaining personal independenceCollate and enter statistical data onto the departmental databaseunder take various administration and clerical dutiesKeep the work areas tidy, clean the equipment regularly and ensure that damaged or problem equipment is reported to Line Manager immediatelyPromote high standards of patient care guiding more junior colleagues and less experienced staff in departmental policies and procedures and acting as a point of contact for patients and their carers. Encouraging patients/carers in an active approach to regaining andmaintaining personal independence. This requires empathy, sensitivity , tact, persuasion and good interpersonal skills Liaising with the Lymphoedema Lead Specialist/ Lymphoedema Practitioner and other members of the multi disciplinary team as necessary regarding patient care.
In particular highlighting any variations to the expected outcomes from treatment programmes Contributing to development of patient care by attending relevant team, department or other appropriate meetings and commenting on recommended changes to clinical care or service provision. Providing information to the clinical staff within Lymphoedema Team in order that implementation of relevant Health Board, Directorate and Departmental Policies is enabled Arranging and confirming appointments for treatment by telephone, post or face to face and also consultant follow-ups. This will also include rearranging patient appointments at short notice when therapists are absent due to unforeseen circumstances. Responding appropriately to patient queries often dealing with anxious and distressed patients/carers face to face or by telephone Liaising with Ambulance Service personnel to arrange transport for those patients who require itLiaising with therapists and parents/carers to arrange delivery or fitting of compression garments Photocopying, sending faxes, mail distribution, letters and data collectionMaintaining stock levels of all patient information leafletsRegistering and greeting patients and preparing patient records for the therapistsScheduling/cancelling/re-arranging appointmentsPhysical assessment (Limb volume, height, weight, measurement)Completion of manual treatment (Multi-Layer Limb Bandaging [MLLB] holding, lifting limb into position, passing bandages, washing and moisturising You will be able to find a full Job description and Person Specification attached within the supporting documents or please click Apply now to view in Trac
