About You
The Microsoft 365 Engineer is responsible for the configuration, maintenance and management of RMIT’s Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Active Directory and associated platforms. The Microsoft 365 Engineer works across both project delivery and operational activities within the level 3 End User Technology team supporting staff, students and associates globally.
This position is also responsible for supporting the realisation of ongoing value from RMIT’s Microsoft investment by continuing to grow user adoption, implementing enhancements to the environment and automating tasks.
The role will prepare and manage change and should be familiar with IT change management in large organizations. This role will require you to continuously improve our use of Microsoft 365 services by staying abreast of Microsoft’s dynamic and ever changing service offerings and using this knowledge to support the introduction of new products that benefit the university.
RMIT has a Global presence, as such this role will require being part of a 24x7 On Call Roster, which will involve working with Technical Engineers across other teams supporting different platforms of the University’s infrastructure.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a large organisation administering Microsoft 365 services.
  • Knowledge and expertise across Microsoft technologies, with a focus on Azure, Entra ID and Active Directory in large organisations.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Entra Connect, especially in a Multi Forest Setup is preferred.
  • Previous involvement with the development of a Microsoft 365 strategy and governance management.
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts and a good understanding of the Microsoft modules and how they can be leveraged in the environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in data classification and data management of large SharePoint Online environments is preferred.
