An opportunity to join our growing team has become available and we are currently seeking an experienced Machine Shop Co-ordinator and Senior Machinist.
Your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Supervise a team of CNC and Manual Machinists, plan and coordinate the weekly work, estimate and deliver customer orders as per requirements, on time, and within the budget
· Set up and operate the CNC and Manual machines and equipment to fabricate metals, and other high-technology materials
· Perform the more complex machining operations, including working with and programming computerized equipment
· Design prototype instruments, and utilize a wider variety of materials with varying capabilities
· Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and related equipment, some of which are computerized, often working within a tolerance of .001 inch.
· Fabricate jigs and fixtures
· Work with the engineering team to develop methods and work construction for new products
· Communicate quality issues to team members
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
· Able to routinely operate lathes, milling machines, and drill presses, cutting, including computerized equipment
· Highly skilled in the operation of CNC machines & interpreting shop drawings
· Extremely organized, adopt safe, and tidy working habits and with a high level of workmanship
· Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and with minimal supervision
· Strong leadership and management skills, make sound decisions, and excellent judgment
· Sound knowledge of the industry standard machine shop practices
· Ability to analyze and solve problems, and implement efficient process improvements
· Adept at managing the department’s overall workload, resources, and materials
· Good verbal and written communication skills in the English language
Experience:
· At least 6 years experience as a senior machinist in the same industry
· Proven experience in managing a machine shop in the precision sheet metal industry is essential
