SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

  • Professional Engineer in good standing
  • 10 years or more in the field of machinery
  • Experience in a large industrial complex or refinery highly desired
  • Excellent analytical problem solving capabilities and a proven reputation to set high standards and promote improvements
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes, and standards
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, rotor dynamics concepts, rotating equipment design, fabrication, and commissioning principles
  • Leadership skills to enable influencing others within the organization without formal authority in order to progress significant work items
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software programs
  • Strong team working skills that enable working as part of or leading an effective team for troubleshooting or work item completion

Responsibilities:

WHAT ROLE YOU WILL PLAY IN OUR TEAM

The machinery engineer is the technical champion for all rotating equipment. The primary responsibilities of this position are to support the refinery business teams with troubleshooting, maintenance planning, upgrades, and technical support. This support extends to maintenance, operations, projects, and turnarounds. The machinery engineer will also develop and drive reliability initiatives both short and long term to ensure company goals are met.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide overall rotating equipment technical leadership and expertise.
  • Ownership, and stewardship of machinery engineering deliverables.
  • Ensures that machinery maintenance work standards and practices are fully defined and adhered to. Update procedures and processes as required to help maintain and improve integrity of machinery equipment.
  • Communicate to the business teams any known vulnerabilities with identified risk categories and resolution options for risk management.
  • Take a leading role in influencing the organization through regular meetings and stewardship that highlights opportunities and vulnerabilities for machinery reliability improvements
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, justify and support implementation of machinery improvements during planned maintenance events.
  • Assists with all aspects of machinery equipment selection, design, installation, commissioning, start-up planning, and maintenance during life cycle.
  • Mentor early-career professionals. Utilize depth and/or breadth of experience to identify cross-functional business opportunities.
  • Stays up to date with the activities of the machinery network within company; initiates equipment or program upgrades, as necessary to stay current with the latest standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to the millwright team.
