Responsibilities:
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with 5 to 9 years of experience in CICS, VSAM, JCL, and COBOL, specifically within the Life and Annuities Insurance domain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing software applications that support our insurance operations. This role requires a deep understanding of mainframe technologies and insurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop and maintain mainframe applications using programming languages such as COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and DB2.
- Conduct unit testing and debugging to ensure the quality and integrity of the code.
- Collaborate with business analysts and users to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot production issues.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure consistency to coding standards and best practices.
- Work with team members to define and implement system enhancements and optimizations.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure the availability and performance of mainframe applications.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
To excel in this role, you should bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mainframe application development.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience of mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on the mainframe platform.
- Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and collaborators.
