Responsibilities / Assignment Deliverables:
Coordinate and assist with testing after mainframe software/hardware infrastructure upgrades and disaster recovery process for PPSR
Monitor data usage and provide support for daily/monthly/year-end job scheduled
Provide ad hoc query requests to PPSR business area and/or auditors
Create operational support documentation and train others
Analysis leading to detailed information related to the current system logical and physical design and code structures during the concept phase of project
Analysis of technical database requirements leading to definition of changes required to support the new system.
Implementation of these changes
Creation of technical specifications in accordance with the OPS standards Identification of problems/issues along with mitigation strategies
Regular status reports on progress made
Effective knowledge transfer to I&IT cluster staff as all stages of this assignment
Report status to and follow overall direction from the Project Manager and/or Lead technical Coordinator
Logical and physical design required to incorporate the required changes JAD sessions/walkthroughs to vet the design and obtain signoff of the technical specifications
Development of new code and modification of existing code (online, batch, and workstation) to implement the design as approved in the technical specifications
Interface with the mid-tier developers
Ensure that the appropriate QA technical standards are incorporated into all artefacts and system code
Preparation of test data and code unit testing
Participation in integration testing including input to the integration test plan, setup of the test environment, creation of test data, execution of integration tests with the Business Analysts and developers, recording of test results and defect repair
Planning and participation in code retrofit with other developers that are modifying the same code in other projects
Analysis of reported defects and corrections required to eliminate the defects
Use of Ministry-mandated management tools for code libraries
Skill Set Requirements for Mainframe Developers:
10+ years experience in programming and analysis at the specified experience level
10+ years experience in structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation, and maintenance of applications
10+ years experience in design, code, test, debug, and documentation of applications
10+ years experience with hierarchical database technologies such as IMS DB and VSAM to perform IMS Database Re-Organization, Unload/Reload, and Recovery Control
10+ years experience in designing and developing Mainframe applications in large integrated IMS DB/DC Full Function and FASTPATH
10+ years experience in using TSO/ISPF, BTS, JCL, REXX, Clist, Enterprise COBOL, Assembler
Proven experience with CA Scheduling, MVS File-Aid and MVS Abend-Aid tools
Proven Experience in the use of third generation language development tool CA Telon, and IBM ACB, BDB and PSB Generation
Proven Experience in the use of information retrieval packages using CA Easytrieve, CA SAR Proven experience with IBM 3270SNA, NDM communications and others
Proven experience with all stages of automated system implementation in large complex high volume online and batch Mainframe transactions environments
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills, verbal and written communications skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Demonstrable knowledge of Personal Property Security registration (PPSR) or similar property registration system
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in working in accordance with policies and procedures on the Ontario Public Service Evaluation:
