Description:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 or more years of experience in a collaborative manufacturing engineering role (preferably with a mechanical or chemical focus)
- Supervisory experience in maintenance, engineering, and contract labor - Desired
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment - Desired
- Project management (specifically capital projects) - Desired
- Experience working in a unionized environment - Desired
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proven track record of working well with peers and being highly productive
- Training in or knowledge of PSM mechanical integrity and project management - High mechanical aptitude
- Must have knowledge of industry standards (such as NFPA, OSHA, ASME, API, etc.) and be able to problem-solve
- Solid understanding of rotating equipment, centrifuges, pumps/agitators, pump curves, piping systems and machine/process design (including blueprint reading, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams)

Responsibilities:
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Maintenance and Reliability Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering expertise to support plant maintenance and operations.
This position is responsible for assuring plant compliance to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) process safety management (PSM) mechanical integrity requirements. The incumbent will ensure that the mechanical integrity of the equipment and facility is maintained. The incumbent will also plan/complete capital and expense projects, oversee facility/contract maintenance activities and provide technical support to plant maintenance (includes welding/centrifuge support, testing instruments calibration and certification of relief valves).
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mechanical integrity program oversight. Assure tank and pipe inspections are completed per OSHA PSM mechanical integrity requirements. Prepare for and participate in PSM audits and complete audit action items in a timely manner. Assure integrity of plant pipe racks, stairs and building/structural steel floors and walls.
- Capital and expense projects. Design, manage and implement capital projects (including writing capital budgets through construction completion). Reduce energy consumption and costs through conservation and efficient equipment projects. Upgrade and improve performance of plant equipment such as pumps, compressors, centrifuges and agitators.
- Contract maintenance oversight. Assure contract maintenance is following plant safety requirements. Be plant contact for contract maintenance.
- Technical support to Maintenance/Operations departments. Provide engineering solutions and support to plant Production, Warehouse, Shipping, Maintenance, Safety, Quality and Environmental departments (including plant centrifuge).
- Back up Engineering Manager on plant fire protection system, plant electrical infrastructure management and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning).
