Description:

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT ENGINEER

  • Networking experience
  • Serial Data Coms experience
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Office software
  • Good awareness of Fibre and Copper cable management
  • Competent in the setting up, maintaining and fault diagnosis of equipment used in X, S, and Ku band satellite control and baseband data communication systems

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT ENGINEER

  • HNC or above in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or relevant evidence of experience
  • A full UK driving licence

THE ROLE

As a Maintenance and Support Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be the primary support of all station equipment working on the Skynet contract.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Work the Operations Support Supervisor, and Satellite Ground Station Manager the Network Operations Centre, to ensure capacity across our network
  • Work in conjunction with the Installation and Maintenance teams
  • Escalate failures in line with departmental reporting expectations
  • Deputise and cover for the Senior Maintenance and Support Engineer in their absence
  • Create and change written authorised procedures and manuals as directed by the Senior Maintenance and Support Engineer

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 39 hours per week (up to 44 hours a week over an 8-day shift cycle) and is based on site at Oakhanger.
