MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT

Join our Foodstuffs North Island Supply Chain Engineering Team as a Maintenance Assistant, where you’ll play a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient operations across Auckland Distributions centres & Whangarei.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED

  • Trade, Asset Management and / or Facility Maintenance experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Manual Handling Equipment (MHE), batteries and battery charging.
  • Basic technical knowledge of a refrigeration system for storage freezers, chillers and ELA’s.
  • Basic computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and MEX (experience preferred)
  • Vehicle licences: Car, Forklift, and Elevated Work Platforms preferred
  • Maintain well organised systems; follow logical approaches to complete work on time and in full
  • Ability to reorganise priorities to meet urgent deadlines
  • Negotiate skilfully in difficult situations, continue to talk, and seek compromise in cases of disagreement
  • Realistic estimates of the time and resources to undertake a process
  • Effectively shifts priorities, multi-tasks and consistently meets deadlines
  • Due to the 24-hour nature of FSNI operations some flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting preventative maintenance checks and minor repairs on warehouse equipment, including racking, compactors, doors, dock levellers, refrigeration systems, orbital wrappers, and MHE.
  • Handling minor building repairs such as plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Installing and maintaining signage, barriers, bollards, fencing, and other safety equipment.
  • Repairing lockers, shelving, racking, and other office and warehouse fit-out items.
  • Updating maintenance activities in the FSNI maintenance system (MEX).
  • Supporting compliance requirements such as Building Warrant of Fitness and other safety standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety.
  • Project managing small to medium maintenance and CAPEX projects.
  • Coordinating with operations leadership to align and communicate planned work.
  • Overseeing contractors on-site and ensuring safety documentation like Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Permit to Work (PTW) is in place.
