Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a mechanically minded and safety focused Maintenance Engineer for our Wellington site. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Making ongoing decisions about work priorities during the shift.
  • Carrying out daily servicing, repairs and maintenance of plant and equipment as scheduled and planned by the Maintenance Planner.
  • Using Mex to record history, book hours, spares usage and close out work orders.
  • Be actively involved in maintenance planning, plant improvements and projects which will improve plant availability and efficiency.
  • Work safely by having a proactive safety attitude in all actions performed. This will be gained by applying awareness, sound risk assessment practices and the use of company processes and documents such as but not limited to LOTO, confined space permit, working at heights permit, etc.
  • Carrying out planned maintenance as scheduled by the Maintenance Planner using sound engineering practices and experience gained in a food manufacturing/production facility.
  • Timely response to all breakdown calls during the shift, use high-level fault-finding skills to evaluate the cause of the breakdown and implement the best solution to rectify the breakdown. This will require the ability to work and communicate with production staff as well as their peers to prioritise actions and implement solutions.
  • Efficiently managing call outs when required, whenever practicable.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Ideally be a Trade Qualified Fitter or similar
  • Have at least 12 to 18 months of experience as a Maintenance Fitter in a Manufacturing / Production / FMCG environment
  • Strong commitment towards safety, productivity, and continuous improvement
  • Experience with Pneumatic transfer systems
  • Fabrication experience in a processing environment
  • Excellent communication and technical skills
  • Competent in basic computer skills
    Hours of Work: 7am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday with an on-call requirement as per rotation
