Description:

The role
We invite you to become a part of a team of Multi-skilled Maintenance Technicians under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager at our Polymer Plant in Darwen. You will be responsible for planning, designing and implementing maintenance programs to optimize the availability and productivity of manufacturing facilities and equipment.
The role is days-based, but flexible to suit the business needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain a schedule of work for all 3rd party contractors who are required to service and inspect the Polymer Plant equipment to remain operational and safe.
  • Attend regular meetings with Polymer Shift Leaders and Engineering management to discuss requirements and priorities for scheduled maintenance.
  • Compile scheduled maintenance work to be carried out for improving production and asset utilisation based on data received from production KPI’s, RCM data gathering, lean initiative and downtime meetings
  • Submit completed work order documentation to main site administrators when site maintenance and engineering is required and track progress of work to completion
  • Identify, carry out and record necessary changes to the Polymer Plant preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Compliance to the ATEX workplace directive & DSEAR.

Key tasks

  • Maintenance of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, heating and ventilation systems, sometimes working within confined spaces and working at height ·
  • Contact plant & equipment manufacturers to obtain technical information to facilitate servicing and repairs to minimise downtime
  • Where required maintain, order and return supplies to/from maintenance stores on the main
  • Keep in touch with progress in energy development, with a view to implementing them at the Polymer Plant for savings.
  • Regular contact with Shift Leaders and operatives throughout the shift (who are the key internal customers)
  • Ensure QHSE procedures are complied in full and documentation updated as required · Maintain Health & Safety Standards with zero lost time accidents while maintaining zero incidents resulting from maintenance and engineering activities
  • Contribute to Polymer Plant engineering / production projects and provide input to Capital Expenditure requests
  • Undertake routine “6S” procedures and audits where required
  • Undertake inspections, installations & maintenance in accordance with the IEC 60079 – 17 standards

Required education, experience and job-related skills

  • All round understanding of current business functions of raw material movements, production, filtering and tanker loading / offloading
  • Proven maintenance and engineering experience in a manufacturing / production environment
  • Experience of installing and commissioning projects
  • Organisational and timeline planning skills
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, SAP, outlook)
  • Preferably ONC in Engineering
  • Time-served Mechanical / Electrical Maintenance technician · NVQ level 3 in an Engineering discipline
  • Basic Hydraulics course, Pneumatics course
  • Electrical or Mechanical appreciation course
  • Counterbalance FLT licence
  • MEWP license · IOSH · CompEx Ex01 – 04 & Ex11
