SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum grade 12 education.
  • Tradesperson certificate in any construction related discipline, Journeyman certificate in Carpentry is an asset.
  • Certification and demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery including aerial lifts and skid steer loaders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and the ability to learn software.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials and ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work inside/outside in all weather conditions.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience including general supervisory duties.
  • Knowledge and experience with Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations (track record of ensuring compliance with standards)
  • Must hold a valid Manitoba driver’s license. A valid Class 3 license is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all sites are presented with a tidy and professional appearance.
  • Arranges, supervises, and holds accountable contractors undertaking maintenance on site.
  • Implements the Forthright Standard for grounds and site maintenance including standards for appearance, cleanliness, functionality, and preventative maintenance.
  • Addresses maintenance issues and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and reduce repair costs in collaboration with the property managers.
  • Responsible for contract procurement, procurement of materials, supplies and labor.
  • Assists in the development of, and ongoing adherence to, the budget for both Fleet and Maintenance.
  • Coordinates, awards, manages, and administers all maintenance contracts including warranty audits of recent installations under Forthright Ventures.
  • Completes annual inspections of all properties to ensure compliance with Forthright Standards.
  • Occasionally does work related to internal jobs undertaken by Forthright staff including operation of equipment in service of landscaping, snow clearing, or other maintenance efforts as needed.
  • Responsible for the Forthright fleet of vehicles and equipment including budgeting, maintaining schedules for basic and regular maintenance, scheduling repairs, and the ongoing turnover of fleet assets under the direction of the Capital Replacement Plan.
  • Supervises and manages a team of seasonal and full-time maintenance technicians, coordinating with vendors and contractors, managing maintenance schedules and budgets.
  • Adheres to Workplace Health and Safety requirements in accordance with the Forthright Health and Safety Plan.

Financial Responsibility

  • The annual maintenance budget.
  • The annual fleet maintenance and capital replacement budget.
  • This role is expected to make authorized purchases using Purchase Orders, petty cash (debit), and contract procurement methods with the context of each of its approved budgets.
