We are looking for a Lead Ambassador for Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour as Maintenance Manager. The ambassador should an eye for detail, a passion for creating magnifique luxury experience for our guests and developing a wonderful team.
Job Description

Our Ambassador will be:

  • Leading and management of the Maintenance department and ensuring the protection & maintenance of owner investment, safety and comfort of guests during stay, allow staff to effectively and safely carry out their roles of caring our guests.
  • Work alongside the internal and external stakeholders (including contractors) and maintaining positive relationships
  • Assisting in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance requirements of the hotel
  • Supervising maintenance and repairs both planned and ad hoc for the hotel.
  • Liaising with other departments in matters dealing with environment control, fire, health and safety.
  • Keeping up to date records on the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Completing daily rounds sign off any relevant section of the Maintenance Manuals.
  • A strong communicator, who is highly organised, motivating and empowering who inspires their team to produce a luxury standard of service
  • The ability to Multi-task - ensuring costs, rostering and budgets are all accounted for, timelines are met and always looking at ways to increase profitability.
  • Working alongside a team of experienced leaders to ensure the Hotel runs smoothly.
  • Be available to carry out emergency maintenance work outside of normal working hours, as required for: full power failure, evacuation fire system re-set and / or failure of mechanical systems.
  • Maintain records of repair work and daily checks as required by local Council, Government and Manufacturer specifications.
  • Liaise with the General Manager regarding use of contractors within the Hotel, controlling expenditure and ensuring work is to the standard required by the Company and manufacture specifications.
  • Record meter readings and liaise with the General Manager regarding options to improve energy management and conservation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer, ideally from luxury 5 star Hotel environment;
  • Trade qualified electrician / Electrical license is preferred but not essential;
  • Working knowledge of building compliance, risk management, and a passion for environmental sustainability;
  • Be a hands on leader - This is not an admin based role;
  • Be able to problem solve effectively, logically and resourcefully;
  • Ability to be on call for after hour emergencies;
  • Experience with luxury properties would be highly advantageous;
  • Past experience with rostering, people management and financial planning;
  • Valid Full NZ drivers license;
  • Experience in a leadership role within a Hotel and collaborating with business stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with ability to predict future needs
  • Have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities to meet organizational goals
  • Strong presentation skills
  • High degree of self-awareness with demonstrated aptitude for self-improvement
