SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or groundskeeping role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, especially in relation to facilities management and contractor supervision.
  • Experience using a range of machinery and tools for gardening, building maintenance, and repairs.
  • Familiarity with facilities management software and record-keeping practices.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with contractors and school personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to work occasional after-hours shifts when necessary for emergencies or special events.
  • Ability to lift heavy items, move furniture, and perform physically demanding tasks as required.

The Maintenance Officer at Reddam House is responsible for ensuring the school’s buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained to a high standard, creating a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment for staff, students, and visitors. The role supports the school’s mission by providing general operational support as a whole and overseeing the upkeep of the facilities, liaising with contractors, performing general handyman tasks as well as carrying out a range of function setups to ensure that the campus is a functional and inviting place conducive to an efficient learning environment.
